For the last eighteen years, PRIME Mentors of Canada has delivered a unique one-on-one mentoring program to at least 1,700 at-risk youth (ten to thirteen years of age) in Toronto schools and to more than 46,000 of their classmates who have attended their project presentations with their respective mentors, teachers and parents.

Our major objective has been to develop research, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills which, in turn, enhances academic learning, school adjustment, self-concept and capacity to work hard and, consequentially, improves school retention. To advance one step further, we are now offering scholarships for those financially needy participants in our program, and we have also started an e-mentoring program that will keep mentors and scholars in touch during their high school years. The scholarship should provide them further incentive to aim for post-secondary education that will prepare them to become more fully functioning, responsible, productive and contributing citizens; the e-mentoring program should make it easier to keep protégés on track toward success, personally and socially.

Our leadership training program which was inititated jointly with the Children's Peace Initiatives in 2005 to engage children in active peacemaking projects in their schools and communities, will continue on in 2006 and 2007.
